Snow Circles

Snow Circles, originally uploaded by Cielo Azul Images.
This is what crop circles can look like in the Winter. Pretty soon, as Spring begins, these circles will be bare dirt and they will begin to give of their precious topsoil to enhance the Great Sand Dunes National Park due to the crazy winds that are sure to start in a few weeks.

Cool picture....but, what is a crop circle?

Awesome that your house is rented! We'll be praying for your crazy week!

Most of the crops in our area are irrigated with sprinklers. Thus, all of the circles you see are pivot sprinklers attached to a ground water well tapping into the underground aquifer. Each circle is typically 1/4 mile on each side long.

If you want to see another view of it...go to google earth and put in Alamosa, CO. You will see the large valley we live in, and the hundreds of crop circles in our area. Without the underground "lake" of water, we would be nothing but a desert here.
